Community Urologist - Faculty (Open Rank)

The Department of Urologic Surgery   at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking two board certified or board eligible general Urologists to provide patient care at our community sites in suburban Metro Milwaukee. These positions are being recruited at the academic level appropriate for the successful candidates.

MCW is a private academic institution dedicated to leadership and excellence in accordance with superior education, research, and patient care.  The Urology practice encompasses the full scope of the specialty and is a tertiary care center serving both adult and pediatric populations. Our affiliations include Froedtert Hospital and its community hospitals, and the Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Responsibilities include:

• Building and maintain a vibrant community based clinical practice, including on-call coverage.
• Didactic/clinical teaching and supervision of residents in the urologic surgery program.
• Potential for staffing the VA hospital’s urology service.
• Department/Division Highlights: Largest urology residency program in Wisconsin, with exposure to highly diverse patient populations across urban, suburban, rural, VA, pediatric, tertiary, and community settings. Residents rotate through Froedtert Hospital, Children's Wisconsin, the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, and community hospitals
• Comprehensive subspecialty coverage with fellowship-trained experts across essentially every major area of urology, including:
• Urologic oncology.
• Robotics/laparoscopy.
• Female pelvic medicine & reconstructive urology.
• Stone disease/endourology.
• Infertility and andrology.
• Pediatric urology.
• Sexual dysfunction.
• Neurourology and voiding dysfunction.
• Reconstructive urology.
• Strong robotic and minimally invasive surgery culture. MCW has emphasized robotic education and advanced surgical innovation for years, including resident-funded advanced training experiences in robotic kidney surgery, robotic microsurgery, robotic urinary diversion, MRI-fusion biopsy, and focal therapy techniques.
• Rare balance between academic medicine and practical clinical autonomy. Many elite academic programs are highly subspecialized and narrowly tertiary-care focused. MCW combines tertiary/quaternary care with meaningful community urology exposure, helping trainees become comfortable in both academic and private-practice environments.
• Faculty accessibility and mentorship culture. Compared with some very large coastal academic programs, MCW’s department size allows residents and junior faculty to work closely with senior faculty leaders while still maintaining strong subspecialty breadth. The department includes nationally recognized experts while remaining relatively collaborative and approachable in structure.
• Strong partnership ecosystem. The department benefits from MCW’s broader academic partnerships with:
• Froedtert Health.
• Children's Wisconsin.
• The VA system.
• This creates a broad referral base and a wide spectrum of pathology and surgical complexity.
• Longstanding investment in innovation and education . The department has repeatedly supported resident travel fellowships and advanced procedural learning opportunities nationally, which is not universal among urology programs.
• Exceptional pediatric integration through Children's Wisconsin, the state’s only freestanding children’s hospital. That gives residents exposure many programs cannot match regionally.
• Robust research accessibility for residents and faculty. MCW specifically highlights: Dedicated research support staff.
• Full-time research nurses.
• Biostatistical support.
• Opportunities for clinical and translational research.
• National meeting presentations.
• Department of Urology
