Software Engineer — UniData

One of the rarest skills in payroll engineering — treated as strategic, not legacy. MultiValue and UniData expertise is genuinely scarce. You will write and debug UniData BASIC across SaaS, mobile, and on-premise environments, troubleshoot across every application tier, and support QA on quality and performance. You will use AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to move faster and build understanding of a large codebase. You will work in Agile teams and can lead R&D initiatives. There is real opportunity at the boundary between the MultiValue core and the modern stack, which is where the most interesting modernization work sits.

You will need: • Hands-on UniData or another MultiValue platform, and MultiValue BASIC • Practical experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code • Strong problem-solving and cross-tier troubleshooting • Good interpersonal skills — you will work with Support, Product, QA, and sometimes customers • Agile, unit testing, TDD

Helpful, not required: SB+ or 4GL, Java, Scala, JavaScript, REST services, HR, payroll, or accounting background. Do not have UniData specifically? If you have deep MultiValue experience in another dialect — UniVerse, D3, jBASE, Pick — or strong engineering skills and appetite for a rare specialization, apply anyway. We would rather hire the right engineer and teach the dialect. The schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday to Friday, first four hours from the Noida office and the rest from home.
