CentralReach is a leading provider of autism and IDD care software for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), multidisciplinary therapy, and special education. Trusted by more than 200,000 users, we enable therapy providers, educators, and employers to scale the way they deliver ABA and related therapies with innovative technology, market-leading industry expertise, and world-class customer satisfaction.
The Strategic Business Development Representative (BDR) will partner closely with our Enterprise Sales team to develop and execute account strategies across a focused portfolio of high-value healthcare organizations. This role is ideal for a business-minded professional who enjoys research, problem solving, and building relationships. Success in this role comes from understanding customer challenges, developing thoughtful outreach strategies, and creating opportunities within strategically identified accounts.
This is a Hybrid role in our Holmdel, NJ office.
Your primary mission is to build pipeline within a defined book of strategic accounts through thoughtful outbound prospecting, deep account research, and multi-threaded stakeholder engagement. You will partner closely with Strategic Account Executives to map organizations, understand business challenges, build relationships with key decision-makers, and create opportunities within high-value target accounts.
This role requires strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to communicate confidently with executive-level stakeholders. Success comes from strategic thinking, preparation, personalization, and the ability to create meaningful conversations with prospective customers.
This is not a traditional high-volume sales development role. The Strategic BDR will work within a defined portfolio of strategic accounts, partnering directly with experienced Account Executives to develop account plans, engage executive-level stakeholders, and execute personalized outreach strategies. The focus is on quality, preparation, business acumen, and strategic account engagement rather than activity volume alone.
Key Accountabilities
Execute strategic outbound prospecting across a defined set of 50–75 target accounts, developing tailored engagement plans designed to create meaningful conversations with key decision-makers.
Build and maintain deep account intelligence for each target, including organizational structure, key stakeholders, business priorities, growth initiatives, technology landscape, and potential challenges.
Develop and execute personalized, multi-touch outreach strategies across phone, email, LinkedIn, and industry events, tailoring messaging to specific stakeholders and business priorities.
Qualify prospective customers against CentralReach's Ideal Customer Profile and identify organizations with strong strategic alignment and long-term partnership potential.
Book and coordinate qualified discovery meetings and executive introductions for Strategic Account Executives.
Partner closely with Strategic Account Executives in regular account planning sessions, aligning on target personas, messaging strategies, opportunity priorities, and pursuit plans.
Maintain accurate and current records of all prospect activity, outreach history, account insights, and pipeline progress within Salesforce.
Monitor market trends, industry developments, funding announcements, M&A activity, leadership changes, and other trigger events, converting insights into timely and relevant outreach.
Represent CentralReach at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events to build relationships and strengthen market awareness.
Consistently meet or exceed goals related to qualified meetings, pipeline generation, and strategic account engagement.
Share market intelligence, prospect feedback, and competitive insights with sales, marketing, and leadership teams.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred.
3–5+ years of professional experience in business development, sales development, customer success, account management, consulting, healthcare operations, or another customer-facing business function.
Experience or familiarity with the ABA, behavioral health, healthcare, or IDD market is highly valued, though not required.
Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity, with a genuine interest in understanding how organizations operate and make decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
Demonstrated track record of achieving goals, driving results, or exceeding expectations.
Strong research, organization, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to quickly understand complex business environments, stakeholder dynamics, and organizational priorities.
Resourceful, proactive, and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
Proficiency with Salesforce or equivalent CRM; experience with sales engagement platforms such as Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, or similar tools is preferred.
Coachable, growth-oriented, and motivated by continuous improvement.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where collaboration and adaptability are critical.
Willingness to travel for industry events, onsite meetings, and customer engagements (up to 20–25%).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an ambitious, business-minded professional who enjoys learning, problem solving, and relationship building. They can think strategically about an organization, communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, and clearly articulate their personal contributions and accomplishments. They are naturally curious, coachable, and motivated by the opportunity to develop expertise in enterprise software sales while partnering closely with experienced Account Executives.
Rather than relying on volume alone, they take a deliberate and thoughtful approach to engaging prospective customers and creating opportunities.
