From Cardless's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Cardless is building the infrastructure for the world's best companies to design, build, and launch financial products. Companies like Coinbase and Bilt use Cardless to create credit cards that feel entirely their own. In an industry where branded financial products usually mean shared logos and shared control, Cardless is built to disappear.
Our APIs and components shape the journey from the first application to every purchase, reward, and moment of support that follows, while we handle lending, compliance, and operations behind the scenes.
In September 2025, we raised a $60 million Series C led by Spark Capital, bringing our total funding to $170 million. The team is over 70 people and scaling toward profitability by year-end 2026.
We're looking for kind, humble people with high standards and low egos. We take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. We see what could be improved, make it so, and leave every product, system, and team better than we found it.
Cardless doesn't just need people who believe in the story — it needs people outside the company writing about it, sharing it, and validating it before a prospect ever gets on a call with us. Every piece of earned coverage, every executive interview, every well-timed partner announcement does something paid marketing can't: it tells the market that people other than Cardless think this is worth paying attention to. This role is the person who builds that credibility deliberately, rather than hoping it happens.
As Director of Communications, you will own Cardless's public relations function — building and running the press, media, and executive visibility strategy that gets Cardless, and the partners who trust it, covered accurately and credibly. You'll pitch journalists, draft releases, and line up the interviews and speaking opportunities that put Cardless leadership in front of the right audiences.
You will work closely with Product Marketing so the story you're telling the press is the same one showing up on the website and in the sales deck, and with Business Development and Account Management so partner launches land publicly the way they were promised to land privately. This role reports to the Chief Business Officer.
This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role: you pitch the press yourself, you write the releases yourself, and you build and maintain your own relationships with the reporters and outlets who cover fintech, payments, and the brands Cardless partners with. You will be evaluated on the quality, frequency, and accuracy of the coverage you generate, and on how well partner and company milestones land publicly when they matter.
Compensation
This role has an annual starting salary range of $175,000–$220,000 + equity + benefits. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, and specific work location.
