From OpenDataJobs's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
OPEN Data Jobs (ODJ) is built to craft data careers. We connect high-potential data, AI, and software professionals with meaningful work on the cutting edge of the federal sector, and our aim reaches beyond any single opening: to help you understand your strengths, find the right role, and grow throughout your career.
ODJ is organized around Roles and Openings. A Role is a durable career type, such as Data Engineer or AI Engineer: it describes the work, the skills that count, and where the path can lead. An Opening is a specific position hiring right now, with a level, a location, and an application. Roles help you see where you fit; from there, there is more than one way to move.
Today, you can apply to any Opening that fits you through our secure application system. You can also register for a Role to express interest in that broader category of work. A Role registration is not an application to every future Opening.
The work
Program Executives lead portfolios of data, artificial intelligence, and technology work where delivery quality, client trust, and organizational growth meet. They are accountable across engagements, not only for what teams promise and deliver, but also for the leaders, operating standards, and relationships that make sustained performance possible.
The role stays close to the work. Program Executives set direction, allocate leadership and resources, resolve cross-program risks, maintain candid executive communication, and intervene when delivery needs authority or clarity. They also build the next layer of leaders and help organizations recognize where strong delivery can open the next valuable problem.
· Portfolios that connect client priorities, delivery commitments, resources, risks, and measurable outcomes.
· Executive relationships sustained through accurate status, sound advice, and direct handling of difficult news.
· Leadership systems that develop program managers, technical leaders, and successors rather than concentrating every decision at the top.
· Quality and governance standards that remain consistent across teams, contracts, partners, and changing assignments.
· Growth grounded in delivery credibility, informed opportunity shaping, and a realistic view of organizational capability.
Who you are
You are an executive who still wants to understand the work. You can detect trouble before it reaches a dashboard, ask the question that changes the decision, and give teams both clear accountability and the authority to deliver.
You build trust through candor and follow-through. You are comfortable with clients, senior government and contractor leaders, technical specialists, and delivery teams, and you know that durable growth begins with work people want repeated.
Openings may emphasize portfolio delivery, executive client leadership, Chief Data Officer advisory support, cross-agency programs, major modernization efforts, organizational growth, or oversight of several technical disciplines. The balance among delivery, relationship leadership, operations, and growth will vary.
Specific openings will state the portfolio scale, financial and people responsibilities, domain experience, work location, citizenship, work authorization, background, suitability, clearance, and other executive requirements.
