From Delta Air Lines's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
At Delta Air Lines, we're redefining how brands connect with customers through premium, high-impact advertising experiences. We're expanding our advertising capabilities across Delta's owned channels, and we're looking for a Financial Planning & Analysis Principal with deep media economics expertise to provide the financial insight and analytical rigor needed to scale Delta's Media Network.
The Financial Planning & Analysis Principal will own the financial planning and performance management engine for Delta's Media Network—including P&L management, revenue and expense forecasting, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and recurring financial reporting.
This role will develop a deep understanding of every driver of the business, connecting media-specific revenue assumptions such as inventory, impressions, pricing, sell-through, and revenue share structures with the full cost base required to operate and scale the Media Network.
Working closely with Media Network leadership and Delta Finance, this person will provide weekly and monthly visibility into financial performance, explain what is driving results, continuously refine the outlook, and model the financial implications of strategic and commercial decisions.
P&L Management & Financial Performance: Maintain a comprehensive view of Delta’s Media Network P&L, developing a deep understanding of revenue, expenses, margins, and the underlying drivers of financial performance. Monitor actuals against plan and forecast, identify variances, and provide leadership with clear insight into what is driving results.
Forecasting & Financial Planning: Own the development and ongoing refinement of revenue, expense, and profitability forecasts across the Media Network. Build driver-based forecasts that reflect evolving assumptions around advertiser demand, inventory, pricing, sell-through, product launches, headcount, technology, vendors, and other business drivers.
Scenario & Sensitivity Analysis: Develop flexible financial models that allow leadership to rapidly evaluate the impact of changing business assumptions and strategic choices, including pricing, inventory growth, sell-through, channel mix, launch timing, revenue-share structures, operating models, and investment decisions.
Media Economics & Revenue Analytics: Develop a detailed understanding of the Media Network’s revenue model and analyze performance across products, channels, advertisers, and other relevant dimensions. Connect media-specific drivers—including available inventory, impressions, CPMs, sell-through, realized pricing, and product mix—to revenue and profitability.
Cost & Profitability Analytics: Maintain a detailed understanding of the Media Network’s cost base, including headcount, technology, data and measurement, agencies, vendors, revenue shares, and other operating expenses. Analyze cost-to-serve, contribution economics, and profitability across products, channels, and operating models to identify opportunities and risks.
Financial Reporting & Business Insights: Develop weekly, monthly, and other recurring management reporting that provides leadership with a clear view of revenue, expenses, profitability, forecast performance, and key financial drivers. Go beyond reporting results to explain why performance is changing, what it means for the outlook, and where leadership attention is needed.
Business Cases & Investment Analysis: Build financial models and business cases for new products, channels, technology investments, partnerships, operating-model changes, and other strategic opportunities, helping leadership understand expected returns, break-even points, sensitivities, and financial tradeoffs.
Commercial Finance & Pricing Support: Partner with Ad Sales, Ad Products, and Business Operations to evaluate pricing, packaging, deal structures, revenue shares, and other commercial decisions. Provide financial analysis that helps balance revenue growth, advertiser value, and long-term profitability.
Annual & Long-Range Planning: Support annual budgeting and longer-range planning for the Media Network, translating business strategy and product roadmaps into financial assumptions, investment requirements, revenue expectations, and profitability outlooks.
Enterprise Finance Partnership: Serve as the primary analytical partner between the Media Network and Delta Finance, aligning forecasts, actuals, budgets, and planning assumptions while ensuring Media Network leadership has the level of financial detail needed to manage the business.
Financial Modeling & Reporting Infrastructure: Build and continuously improve the models, dashboards, and analytical tools needed to provide scalable, reliable visibility into financial performance and rapidly evaluate changes in business assumptions.
AI & Financial Analytics: Leverage AI and emerging analytical tools to accelerate financial analysis, variance identification, scenario development, forecasting, and management reporting while maintaining appropriate standards for accuracy and financial rigor.
