From Praxent's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Why Praxent?
We get it. You have options. Let us tell you why we’re different. Our work is changing the world of financial services. Everyday, clients arrive with big ideas for their industry. They’re experts in their field with the vision and resources you need to change everything. All that’s left is the right team to bring that vision to life. If you’re a fast learner and you love working on a wide variety of projects, you’re going to like it here.
We help our clients modernize, rather than rebuild, outdated customer-facing software applications. Our clients see a return within weeks instead of months and that’s why they choose us.
At Praxent, we let you do your work your way. We’re a team of 200+ located throughout the United States and Central/South America. Our role is to encourage you, support you, and give you the freedom you need to thrive. Whether you’re working at home, in a coffee shop, or heck, even on your travels, we’re here to create an environment that lets you live your best life. On your terms.
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in the following locations: Mexico, Colombia, or El Salvador.
Enhance
Ensure that Core Values are living and breathing throughout the project team and that these values are reflected within the QA assurance team and department.
Perform automated testing and API testing for complex applications and scenarios; locate and document edge cases by understanding the depth and intricacies of a project; assess possible risks and propose modifications to the acceptance criteria.
Demonstrate proficiency at automation, API testing, or accessibility testing principles and solutions.
Enhance the team's capacity by documenting plans to anticipated risks/blockers, advancing best practices, and mentoring peers and more junior team members.
Guide Development
: Serve as a technical SME in the sprint, ensuring successful delivery of the sprint commitment by prioritizing testing efforts, enhancing acceptance criteria, etc.
Conduct recruiting interviews and analyze candidates to ensure successful hiring/contracting.
Present robust testing plans, metrics, and other valuable insight and direction during sprint review meetings; propose solutions and improvements to clients that improve our ability to deliver value.
Ensuring the team understands acceptance criteria, tracking daily progress, limit team’s QA kickback, deliver stories as assigned, find opportunities to increase capacity and velocity.
“I spend a lot of the sprint planning and delegating technical work for other devs, anticipating how to deliver as much value for the client via efficiency and tech debt prevention. This has the added benefit of allow assigned devs to grow technically while also reducing as many unknowns as possible in the cone of uncertainty.
It’s my job to keep in sync with delivery leads on priorities, team allocation, risks, etc, as well as act as the technical interface for the client to help guide them without overloading them with technical jargon.”
Technical Proficiency
: demonstrable proficiency with desired technologies and tools
Genuine fluency writing complex T-SQL from scratch, since ~95% of the work is writing queries to validate data. Includes daily fundamentals like duplicates, joins, primary vs. surrogate keys, query execution order, and reconciliation.
Experience validating data source-to-target, including transformations, data completeness, and end-to-end flows against specs and mapping documents.
Solid grasp of test cases, test plans, test strategy, positive/negative testing, performance and load testing, and data completeness testing. This role sits between a data analyst and a QA tester, so strong SQL without QA discipline isn't a fit, and neither is QA without complex SQL.
Comfortable testing SSRS and Power BI output against your own SQL queries. Developers build the reports; you validate they're correct.
Hands-on across SQL Server, data warehouse, SSRS, and Power BI.
Azure data sources, SSAS cubes, and version control. Deep Power BI/Fabric or modeling depth is a plus, not a substitute for daily SQL and QA fundamentals.
5-8 years professional experience in relevant technology and projects, including ongoing adherence of best practices, leading and executing automated testing for web and mobile applications, and leveraging industry-standard tools to ensure optimal product quality across all stages of the software development lifecycle.
Experience presenting to client stakeholders and communicating technical and business value
Experience understanding and articulating the business outcomes that your development projects impact
Experience with coaching and mentoring, demonstrated through ad-hoc collaboration and structured code reviews.
may include intensive programs, Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a equivalent experience
