Overview
The REDCap Administrator 1 is an entry-level role on Yale's REDCap program team, supporting the university's REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) platform across its research community. This is the foundational rung of Yale's REDCap admin career ladder — the role is deliberately broad rather than specialized, building the general REDCap administration skill that later work (management, infrastructure/EM development, or Part 11 validation) all grows out of.
The primary focus of this role is end-user support: helping researchers, study coordinators, and project teams use REDCap effectively, troubleshooting issues, and answering questions as they come in. Alongside that, the role is explicitly a learning position — the incumbent is expected to build REDCap expertise on the job, with structured onboarding and mentorship from senior team members, rather than arriving with deep REDCap experience already in hand.
Build working knowledge of REDCap project design and configuration (instruments, events, branching logic, data validation) — understanding how projects are built is what makes it possible to support them well
Responsibilities most closely align with what is written above.
Required Skills and Abilities
1.Strong customer-service orientation and communication skills — comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
2. Some experience providing end-user technical support in any IT context.

2. Familiarity with clinical research, human subjects research, or a healthcare/research environment.
3. Basic understanding of databases.
4. Awareness of HIPAA / human-subjects data-handling considerations.
5. Interest in eventually growing into a specialized REDCap path.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Contributes in the development of programs or systems of small to moderate size and complexity. 2. Contributes to the collaborative effort of the analysis and design of new systems and applications.
Performs various coding, debugging and unit testing tasks in support of applications, programs, and systems. 4. Contributes to the project definition, and the gathering of the functional requirements. 5. Troubleshoots problems whether due to data or software and rapidly resolves any problems that do occur. Provides ongoing maintenance and support for applications and systems. 6. Prepares documentation and user manuals. Provides support for training of end users. 7.
