Estimator - Shaw Sports Turf

Job Title

Estimator - Shaw Sports Turf

Position Overview

At Shaw Sports Turf, we do more than create synthetic turf. We create playing surfaces where athletes train, compete, and make memories. As a premier North American synthetic turf brand, Shaw Sports Turf has more than two decades of industry experience, with surfaces trusted across recreational, K-12, collegiate, and high-profile professional sports facilities.

With more than 4,000 installations, our portfolio includes high-profile clients such as the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Diamondbacks, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers, and Tampa Bay Rays. We combine innovation, quality, and a science-based approach to athlete and surface performance, backed by the broader strength of Shaw Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway company.

We’re looking for an Estimator who enjoys working with numbers, construction plans, CAD, and project details and wants to continue building their expertise in estimating. You’ll partner closely with our Estimating and Sales teams to help turn plans and specifications into accurate, competitive project bids.

What You’ll Do

• In this role, you’ll support the estimating process from initial project review through handoff to Operations. You’ll:
• Build accurate bids: Assist with cost estimates and complete bid packages, ensuring project details and documentation are accurate.
• Interpret construction plans: Review drawings and specifications to identify labor, materials, quantities, and project requirements.
• Perform material takeoffs: Quantify materials and help develop proposals that accurately represent the project scope.
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors: Gather pricing, confirm material availability, and coordinate information needed for estimates.
• Use AutoCAD: Develop conceptual drawings and takeoffs from construction plans and satellite imagery.
• Manage project changes: Update bids when drawings, specifications, or project requirements change and help keep stakeholders aligned.
• Maintain project documentation: Keep estimates, drawings, and technical information organized and current.
• Support quality: Participate in reviews of bid packages to identify potential discrepancies before submission.
• Collaborate across the business: Work with Estimators and Territory Managers to strengthen estimating practices and improve accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred.
• High School Diploma/GED
• Foundational experience in construction estimating, project coordination, takeoffs, or a related construction environment is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Collaborative mindset and ability to communicate effectively across teams.
• Curiosity and a desire to continue learning and growing within estimating.
• Why Shaw Sports Turf?

This is an opportunity to apply your technical skills to projects that become highly visible parts of communities and athletic programs. Shaw Sports Turf's work spans everything from local and K-12 facilities to collegiate and professional sports environments, and the brand is focused on innovation, quality, and athlete-centered surface performance.

You'll also be part of an organization with significant technical resources behind its products. Shaw Sports Turf's PEAK Performance Labs focus on Playability, Environment, and Athlete Kinetics, studying surface performance and athlete-turf interaction to help advance how sports surfaces are engineered.

And because Shaw Sports Turf is part of Shaw Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway company, candidates get an appealing combination: the energy and specialized focus of the sports industry with the backing of a larger, established organization
