Pay Range:

$22.90 - $28.62/hr. | $47,632 - $59,539 annually

Workdays & Hours:

Primarily Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This is a community-facing position, and work hours will vary based on events and operational needs, including periodic evening and weekend assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field
• Two (2) years of experience in interviewing/eligibility assessment for a social services or related program
• Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Customer service oriented
• The ability to exert 10 pounds of force occasionally having to lift, carry, push, pull, set up or otherwise move objects
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and public speaking
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize responsibilities, and follow projects through to completion
• Ability to actively engage with the community, develop relationships, identify opportunities, and bring energy and creativity to crime-prevention efforts
• The Human Services Specialist job responsibilities include: Coordinate and organize the Annual Central Division Safety Fair as well as National Night Out events
• Develop and perform crime/safety presentations to citizens and community groups
• Create and distribute a monthly newsletter to division personnel as well as community stakeholders
• Collect, organize and maintain an inventory of crime prevention materials to be distributed at community events
• Work alongside Neighborhood Patrol Officers to be a visible presence at events to promote a safety partnership aimed at decreasing crime and building relationships
• Proactively identify opportunities for community engagement, crime-prevention education, and partnerships, and independently coordinate activities and follow-up as appropriate

• Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
• Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Background Check
• Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:  Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class
