• Perform and review electrical load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, power distribution, lighting layouts, and building electrical system designs.
• Provide technical leadership on complex engineering challenges, design conflicts, and interdisciplinary coordination issues.
• Coordinate electrical requirements with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other engineering teams.
• Verify that designs comply with applicable building and electrical codes, engineering standards, constructability requirements, and project specifications.
• Work directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical concerns.
• Review RFIs, revise drawings, and address design changes and technical questions during construction.
• Apply professional engineering judgment and Florida PE expertise to uphold design integrity and technical standards.
• Coach junior engineers and designers, review their work, and contribute to their technical development.

Requirements

• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience within an MEP consulting firm or comparable MEP design environment.
• Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proven experience designing electrical systems for high-rise buildings and complex commercial developments.
• Advanced working proficiency in both Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of building electrical systems, load calculations, power distribution, lighting design, applicable codes, and engineering standards.
• Project experience involving high-rise offices, condominiums, hotels, airports, municipal facilities, industrial buildings, or similarly complex structures.
• Ability to independently manage electrical design deliverables, review technical work, and maintain project quality.
• Strong technical judgment, interdisciplinary coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred: Current or previous employment with an MEP consulting firm in South Florida.
• Important: Candidates must have substantial commercial or high-rise electrical design experience. General electrical experience without relevant building design expertise will not meet the requirements.
