About the Role
Lead Systems Analyst
Onsite (4 days a week): Boston, MA.
R95048
The Position
Mosaic Prism is Wellington’s Enterprise-wide solution to provide curated data from various sources. Prism is a key component of the firm’s data platform and enables consumers to query data as logical entities, navigating relationships between these entities along a predefined path.
The team is responsible for the architecture, availability, and curation of datasets exposed through Prism, as well as the platform’s resiliency, deployment tooling, and self-service capabilities used by dozens of business and technology teams across the firm.
We are seeking an individual for a Lead Systems Analyst position who will own the technical analysis and delivery of key Prism data domains and platform capabilities, drive the quarterly roadmap across multiple business partners, and provide technical leadership and mentorship to other analysts on the team. This is an opportunity for an experienced analyst to take on a leadership role on a strong, collaborative data team and apply investment data knowledge to high-visibility, business-critical initiatives.
The role combines hands-on data analysis and modeling, stakeholder engagement, delivery ownership, and production support, working closely with development and platform engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- · Lead the technical analysis, design, and delivery of Prism data domains and platform capabilities, independently driving initiatives from requirements through production support
- · Own and drive the quarterly (PI) roadmap for the Prism platform, coordinating deliverables across multiple business and technology partners (e.g., IBOR, Ref Data Research, Capital Solutions, Sentinel, Securitized Products, Regulatory Reporting)
- · Define data requirements and guide enhancements to core platform components, including the data persistence/caching framework, notification and messaging pipeline, and metadata deployment and publishing processes, in partnership with development teams
- · Partner with data producers, consumers, business stakeholders, and application teams to onboard new datasets and design logical data entities, keys, and relationships; assess the downstream impact of source-system changes and guide analysts through complex requirements
- · Partner with Platform/Infrastructure engineering on deployment strategy (e.g., blue/green deployments), disaster recovery planning, and cloud migration initiatives affecting Prism
- · Serve as an escalation point for production support, take ownership during incidents, and investigate data and platform issues using SQL, Python, API queries, and cloud data and logs; author and maintain support playbooks, troubleshooting guides, and administrative tooling
- · Author and review Prism data domain design and support documentation, and help set documentation and design standards for the team
- · Coordinate with QA, analyst teams, and vendors to define test strategy and ensure smoke test/regression coverage for new and changed capabilities
- · Identify and drive opportunities for self-service and automation that reduce manual analyst effort across the team
- · Apply AI-assisted development and analysis tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate dataset onboarding, testing, and support work, and build reusable AI tools/skills that other analysts on the team can adopt
- · Mentor junior analysts, review their designs and documentation, and provide technical direction to analysts and developers to support delivery commitments and operational continuity
Qualifications
- · 7+ years of experience in the asset management or financial services industry
- · Strong hands-on understanding of investment management datasets and workflows, including positions, performance, reference/security-master data, and investment analytics such as DV01, duration, and returns; ability to recognize unexpected results and investigate their causes
- · Excellent SQL skills, including multi-table joins, as-of/effective-date logic, and diagnosing discrepancies between data sources, with strong knowledge of relational databases and familiarity with non-relational data technologies
- · Practical Python experience for data analysis, troubleshooting, or related technical work
- · Ability to read and write GraphQL and REST API queries for data access and investigation; service development experience is not required
- · Working familiarity with AWS S3, Athena, and CloudWatch/OpenSearch for read-level data access and log investigation
- · Understanding of messaging/notification patterns and batch scheduling concepts
- · Demonstrated experience independently leading technical initiatives, coordinating competing priorities across business and technology stakeholders, and mentoring junior team members
- · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the team with senior business and technology stakeholders
- · Ability and willingness to work effectively in a business-critical production environment, including production support/escalation responsibilities
- · Ability to work independently and to guide and direct the work of others
- · Ability and willingness to work in an energetic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- · Hold an undergraduate degree in a related subject
- Desired Skills and Experience
- · Familiarity with Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric, given the direction of the firm’s data strategy
- · Experience with metadata-driven data platforms and data federation or integration across multiple sources
- · Familiarity with cloud deployment strategies, including blue/green deployments, disaster recovery, and cloud migration
- · Experience using AI coding and analysis assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate engineering and analysis work, including building reusable AI-powered tools or automations for a team
- · Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau
- · Demonstrated understanding of modern source control tools like Git, Source Tree, etc., and CI/CD deployment pipelines
- · SQL query performance tuning experience
- · Demonstrated ability to design, document, and support highly complex, interrelated systems and data processing pipelines
- · Experience with messaging/notification systems and batch job scheduling tools
