At FNBO, our employees are the heart of our story—and we’re committed to their success! Please see below the details of this career opportunity and how it fits into our organization’s success.
Summary of the Job:
FNBO is seeking a technology leader to own the engineering capabilities that support high-volume, real-time payment processing, including our existing BASE24 and PRM platforms. This Technology Director will ensure the reliability, resiliency, security, and operational effectiveness of today's environment while defining and executing a practical modernization roadmap for the space.
This role is ideal for a strong people and technology leader who understands payments or financial transaction processing, can operate effectively across legacy and modern platforms, and can guide teams through a multi-year transformation without compromising production stability or regulatory obligations.
About This Role:
What You’ll Do:
- Lead, develop, and retain engineering teams responsible for payment authorization and fraud systems.
- Provide leadership oversight for BASE24, PRM, and connected systems, ensuring strong availability, resiliency, recoverability, security, performance, and production support.
- Define and execute a modernization roadmap that reduces platform risk, improves agility, and creates a sustainable path from legacy processing toward modern, modular capabilities.
- Drive modern engineering practices, including API-first and event-driven design, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, infrastructure automation, secure coding, and cloud-native patterns where appropriate.
- Partner with Product, Operations, Risk, Fraud, Information Security, Architecture, and other Technology leaders.
- Serve as a senior technical leader and escalation point for complex payment-processing incidents, architectural decisions, capacity concerns, vendor issues, and cross-system dependencies.
- Manage strategic vendors and third-party integrations, including performance, contractual commitments, lifecycle planning, and alignment to FNBO architecture and security standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Significant experience with payments, banking, card processing, financial transactions, or another high-volume, high-availability transaction-processing domain.
- Strong technical depth across distributed systems and modern architectures, including RESTful APIs, microservices, event streaming, container platforms, modern data integration patterns, and public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Experience designing, delivering, or migrating enterprise workloads on AWS, with an understanding of cloud architecture, security, networking, resiliency, observability, automation, and cost management.
- Experience leading agile teams with a focus on continuous delivery and continuous improvement
- Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to align across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience managing vendors and integrating third-party platforms
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and prioritization
The Ideal Candidate for This Role:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams
- 7+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, platform engineering, architecture, or technology delivery.
- Experience supporting production systems with stringent availability, security, performance, and recovery requirements.
- Preferred Experience: Experience with ACI BASE24, BASE24-eps, ACI Proactive Risk Manager (PRM), or comparable payment switching, authorization, or fraud-management platforms.
- Knowledge of card-payment ecosystems and transaction flows, including card authorizations
- Experience leading modernization programs.
- Financial services experience in a regulated banking environment.
Why Join FNBO in This Role:
