Role and Responsibilities
This role leads financial simulations and competitive analytics for the New Computing (“NC”) business, including Tablet, PC, and XR. This essential function works with Cross Functional Leads and Category/Channel Managers across New Computing to develop financial and demand outlooks based on the latest product, pricing, and promotional roadmaps. The role also owns third-party vendor and market data relationships to create a cohesive view of New Computing's competitive landscape.
It balances this competitive analysis against internal models it builds to evaluate category performance, promotional ROI, and seasonality, highlighting growth opportunities and delivering actionable insights that guide category strategy and investments. This role will collaborate with the New Computing Partnership Lead in order to evaluate opportunities, build business cases and work with SEA Finance and Headquarters to secure funding.
This individual must be able to deliver compelling, clear presentations to multiple cross-functional Samsung teams and use data and quantitative analysis to influence the strategic direction of programs and initiatives. This position reports to the Head of New Computing Strategy and Operations.
[Position Objective]
Financial Health Management: Partner with Sales Finance, Channel Managers and Account Teams to build cycle revenue, SD and MDF forecast guides (TP) grounded in current run rates and weeks of supply forecast. Monitor financial outlooks on a weekly and monthly basis, tracking achievement versus forecast, to surface risks and opportunities early. Review SD and MDF spend against targets and guidelines in both forecast and actuals, flagging variances and ensuring alignment with budget parameters.
Competitive Landscape Monitoring & Analytics: Leverage our expansive access to third party vendor research and market data (including Circana, Gap Intelligence, Stackline, Traqline, SMART, IDC and Tech Insights) to create dashboards on Purchasing Trends, Retailer Trends, Account Dynamics and more. Monitor these dashboards to understand what rival brands are shipping, pricing, and promoting in order to surface trends early.
Conduct ongoing competitive analytics across the product and technology landscape to determine where the New Computing teams opportunities and threats lie. Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Account, Product and Seasonality Analytics: Analyze promotional performance, seasonality, and financial outlooks to pinpoint the accounts, products, and weeks underperforming against benchmarks, targets, and the market. Translate findings into clear growth opportunities and tactics based on historical performance and market data.
Shape product, pricing, and promotional roadmaps: Partner with Category Managers across Tablet, PC, and XR to evaluate roadmaps against competitor activity. Identify opportunities and advise on adjustments to position NC products strategically during Key Drive Times. Present insights to Account Leads and Channel Managers that shape roadmap priorities. Run simulations on ad hoc new promotional opportunities to evaluate ROI and provide submissions to finance for approval support.
Benchmark results against third-party data (e.g., SMART, Circana) to improve simulation accuracy.
Develop strategic partnerships: Work with our NC partnership lead to evaluate partnership opportunities with new and existing companies that can expand NC's reach. Research and propose partnership models aligned with business goals, build the business case for each, and work cross-functionally and with HQ to secure funding.
Apply AI and automation: Identify opportunities to integrate AI into existing analytical and business processes to reduce manual work, accelerate analysis, and improve decision making. Automate recurring data preparation, analysis, reporting, and forecasting. Use AI and advanced analytical tools to detect patterns, anomalies, risks, and opportunities in large datasets, and validate outputs for accuracy, reliability, and appropriate use.
Deliver executive updates: Provide clear, concise updates to NC, National Retail, cross-functional audiences and executive leadership on sales trends, forecast outlook, promotional effectiveness, financial health, risks, and growth opportunities.
