Employer Job Description
From Hub International's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
About SPG Ancillary, a division of Strategic Benefit Resources: SPG Ancillary is a division of Specialty Program Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of HUB International. Our mission is to solve problems, create a better experience, and produce results for our broker, carrier, and benefits technology partners. We pride ourselves on encouraging creativity with each problem, embracing collaboration at every opportunity, and empowering commitment to expected results.
Our expertise lies in dental, vision, life, disability, supplemental health, and leave management. Our organization is comprised of four integrated teams: marketing, client service, leave management solutions, and business operations. As an extension of a brokerage’s consulting and service teams, we support marketing, sold case implementation, account support, renewal management, analytics & insights, leave administration & state disability compliance.
About the Position: An ideal candidate for the Operations Analyst – Data & Revenue Operations position will be detail-oriented, analytical, and energized by problem-solving in a complex data environment. You will take ownership of manual, data and revenue operations tasks, including account lookups, content mapping updates, carrier reconciliation data entry, reference documentation, carrier commission reconciliation, and production report support, to free up the team to focus on strategic analytics, tooling, and other operations work.
This role is foundational: you'll learn SPG's data architecture, carrier relationships, revenue operations, and insurance operations while executing essential validation, data entry, reconciliation, and reporting tasks. Working directly with the operations and leadership team, you will gain hands-on experience in data governance, CRM administration, revenue reconciliation, and business analytics support. As established processes are refined, this role is expected to take on ownership of running them going forward.
This is an ideal entry-level position for someone looking to build a career in data or revenue operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Operations
- Look up account information and respond to account-specific questions.
- Update content mapping templates (lines of coverage, carriers) as requested.
- Maintain reference and workflow documentation, including carrier contract updates, as products and processes evolve.
- Support carrier reconciliation data entry.
- Support the highest level of data quality through consistent and efficient data QA and validation, including QA of data content in and outside of Salesforce.
- Cross-train to support QA testing and reporting of Salesforce configuration changes and process updates.
- Support data alignment across multiple data sources, managing file receipt, consolidation, and clean-up, and coordinating follow-up where needed.
- Document and escalate any known data concerns or progress blockers.
- Support organizational data governance, consistently updating field mappings and update rules.
- As established operational processes are refined, take ownership of running them going forward.
- Maintain a general feedback loop with leadership on operational improvement opportunities as they arise in the course of day-to-day work.
- Revenue Operations & Reconciliation
- Procure carrier commission statements and provide to cash application resource; own outreach to carriers when statements are missing or discrepancies arise.
- Log and reconcile monthly carrier commission revenue received against carrier statements, ensuring accurate and timely posting by carrier and client.
- Pull premium and commission figures from carrier statements to support contingent commission calculations.
- Maintain monthly accrual tracking (e.g., reserves, intercompany payments) as part of revenue close, including coordination of revenue share activity.
- Own coordination with the collections resource on commission variance and carrier follow-up inquiries, providing status updates to leadership.
- Handle tactical, ad hoc data pulls from finance, flagging anything requiring leadership judgment.
- Production Report Support
- Audit the monthly production report for completeness and accuracy, flagging missing carriers, late payments, transfers between other P&Ls, and posting errors; coordinate with the cash application resource to resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in updating the production report to reflect producer compensation activity and maintain the list of producer-assigned accounts in collaboration with others on the team.
- Support onboarding of new carriers/clients into the production report structure, maintaining consistent carrier/client naming and data structure, obtaining portal access, and collaborating with another operations resource for appointment and ACH paperwork.
- Forecasting
- Maintain and update monthly revenue forecast models based on guidance and methodology provided by leadership (e.g., historical averages, watchlist tracking for late-pay carriers, quarterly payment schedules).
- Flag one-time or non-recurring payments (e.g., catch-up payments, true-ups) for leadership review so they can be excluded from run-rate assumptions.
- Keep forecast assumptions organized and documented so they're easy to review and audit.
- Month-End Support
- Prepare month-end revenue summaries (actual vs. budget vs. forecast) under manager review.
- Calculate and flag budget-to-actual variances by line for manager review.
- Help maintain month-over-month tracking of key revenue metrics for leadership reporting.
- Document data sources and calculation rationale for all manual adjustments.
- Own first-pass audit and review of BenAdmin invoices ahead of leadership approval.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 1-2 years' experience in operations, data entry, business analysis, finance, or a related role (preferred but not required)
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to data accuracy and completeness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, basic formulas) and experience with databases or data tools
- Comfort with CRM systems or willingness to learn Salesforce quickly
- Comfort working with financial/commission data; exposure to revenue reconciliation or accounting concepts is a plus
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Effective communicator with ability to document findings clearly and present data to non-technical stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with curiosity about data and process improvement
- Self-starter who thrives with minimal oversight, comfortable with ambiguity and continuous change in a fast-paced, startup-style environment
- Ability to work 100% remote and manage time independently
- Team-oriented mindset with willingness to support cross-functional initiatives
- Interest in growing toward analytics, revenue operations, data governance, or operations leadership
- Work Location: This is a 100% remote position working in your local time zone. Access to a local office may be available upon request.

SPG is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA, and 401(k) accounts, paid-time off benefits, and eligible bonuses, equity, and commissions for some positions.
