Jig and Fixture Builder

Join Life Fitness / Hammer Strength and help build the tooling that keeps our manufacturing operations moving. As a Jig & Fixture Builder, you’ll design, build, troubleshoot, and repair production tooling used to manufacture high-quality fitness equipment. You’ll work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, and New Product Development to turn engineering requirements into safe, accurate, production-ready solutions.

Shift: Day Shift

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands metal fabrication, can work independently from engineering drawings, and enjoys solving practical manufacturing problems. You’ll also collaborate across teams, communicate effectively with internal customers, and help identify improvements to safety, quality, and productivity.

As our Jig & Fixture Builder, you will:

Design and build jigs, fixtures, and other production tooling to support manufacturing productivity, quality, and safety.

Partner with Quality Assurance to inspect tooling for accuracy and conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.

Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform repairs or modifications to meet production needs.

Operate standard tool room equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, welders, and saws.

Provide tooling expertise and input to Manufacturing Engineering and New Product Development during new-product design.

Recommend practical improvements that enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Plan and prioritize tooling work to support production requirements and new-product release schedules.

Communicate effectively with engineering, quality, production, and other internal customers.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is looking for in our Jig & Fixture Builder:

• Required qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in a metal fabrication environment .
• Thorough understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Demonstrated skill operating mills, lathes, grinders, welders, saws, and other standard tool room equipment.
• Working knowledge of basic precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems, work independently, and make sound decisions in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred qualifications:

• Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) .
• Two-year technical college certificate in Tool and Die .
• Experience with CAD or SolidWorks , including creating tooling layouts and manipulating 3D engineering data.

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds .
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance .
• Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with manufacturing and tool room work.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment where noise levels may be elevated.

Your base wage will be between $25.50 - $31.25 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined.
