The Opportunity
Are you a change leader who likes working on the big picture but doesn’t want to lose touch with the real work of change? Someone who can advise senior leaders one day and dig into a complex project challenge the next?
As a Change Partner Lead, you’ll help leaders navigate the people and organizational dimensions of a large-scale transformation while also consulting directly with Technology project teams.
We’re looking for someone who sees the connections others may miss across strategy, leadership, culture, talent, structure, processes, and behavior. You’re comfortable when the path isn’t obvious, curious enough to diagnose before jumping to solutions, and experienced enough to know when standard change management is exactly what’s needed and when the challenge calls for something more.
This is a role for someone who can see the system, influence at the highest levels, and still stay close enough to the work to help make change real.
The Change Partner Lead helps Technology leaders and teammates navigate the people and organizational side of Technology’s transformation. The role advises senior leaders on turning strategy into lasting shifts in culture, leadership behavior, and ways of working, and consults with project teams, building their change capability so each team owns the success of its change.
Success requires seeing the whole system, diagnosing what is helping or getting in the way of change, and knowing when standard change management is enough and when the challenge calls for something more.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Leads the people and organizational side of Technology’s transformation , partnering across functions to turn the Technology strategy into lasting shifts in how leaders lead, how teams work, and how decisions get made.
- Develops and integrates change strategy across a portfolio of initiatives tied to a USAA Strategic Priority. Identifies impacted audiences, integration points, dependencies, and barriers, and assesses the impact of the portfolio.
- Serves as a trusted advisor to senior executives. Coaches and influences them to lead change in a highly matrixed organization and facilitates leadership discussions that build alignment and clarify priorities.
- Consults with project teams and influences their change plans. Guides them in driving change effectively, assessing change impact, and delivering stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and adoption support, so each team owns the success of its change and stays aligned to the Technology strategy.
- Facilitates partnerships that support change. Brings together partners across HR, Communications, Learning, Strategy, and Risk, and helps project teams engage change management and readiness resources.
- Helps Technology teammates navigate their own changes as part of Technology’s transformation, with practical support, clear communication, and readiness.
- Uses employee insights, data, and business results to evaluate progress, refine strategies and best practices, and improve adoption.
- Develops scalable, reusable change tools , such as templates, stakeholder assessments, and communication plans, that the team and project teams can use.
- Coaches and develops change partners. Matures the change management discipline and builds organizational change capability through thought leadership.
- Identifies and manages risk , including transformation risks such as leader alignment, workforce disruption, and culture. Operates in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Proven experience leading the people and organizational side of a complex, large-scale transformation, including shifts in culture, leadership expectations, or ways of working. Has set change strategies, executed them successfully, and supported leaders and employees through the change, using organizational effectiveness practices such as operating model activation, role clarity, and decision effectiveness.
Experience diagnosing organizational needs and systemic barriers across strategy, leadership behavior, culture, structure, talent, processes, and incentives, and to recognize when proven change management is sufficient and when a broader intervention is needed.

What sets you apart:
Certification in organizational development, organization design, coaching, or facilitation.
