What does a successful Fraud Investigator do at Fiserv?
As a successful Fraud Investigator, you will support fraud prevention and detection for consumer debit and prepaid card programs offered through fintech program managers and sponsor banks. You will monitor transactional and account activity, evaluate fraud alerts, identify emerging fraud patterns and recommend actions to reduce losses while minimizing unnecessary customer disruption.
What you will do:
- · Monitor fraud alerts, transaction activity, account behavior and exception reports across debit and prepaid card portfolios.
- · Review alerts promptly and determine whether activity can be closed as legitimate, requires additional investigation or should be escalated for immediate action.
- · Analyze card-present, card-not-present, ATM, digital-wallet, account-opening, funding, transfer and account-takeover activity for suspicious patterns.
- · Identify emerging fraud trends, attack signatures, concentrations and changes in authorization or loss patterns.
- · Perform root-cause analysis of fraud events and recommend appropriate control, process, rule or operational changes.
- · Evaluate fraud strategies and rules for effectiveness, including detection rates, false positives, customer impact, prevented loss, confirmed loss and alert volumes.
What you will need to have:
· Three or more years of experience in fraud monitoring, fraud operations, card risk, payment operations, banking operations, financial crime or a related field.
· Experience analyzing debit, prepaid, credit, ATM, digital-payment or account-level transactional activity.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with large datasets, fraud-monitoring platforms, dashboards or reporting tools.
· Ability to recognize suspicious patterns, assess risk and make timely decisions using incomplete or rapidly changing information.
· Strong written documentation skills, including the ability to prepare concise case narratives, trend summaries and management reports.
· Ability to balance fraud-loss reduction with customer experience and legitimate transaction approval.
· Ability to manage multiple alerts, investigations, incidents and remediation items in a deadline-driven environment.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical, operational, risk, compliance, client and bank stakeholders.
What would be great to have:
· Experience supporting a debit or prepaid card issuer, fintech program manager, sponsor bank, issuer processor or Banking-as-a-Service environment.
· Familiarity with card authorization data, fraud-rule management, account takeover, identity fraud, card testing, BIN attacks, counterfeit activity, digital-wallet fraud, ATM fraud and lost-or-stolen card fraud.
· Knowledge of Visa or Mastercard rules and card-industry fraud-monitoring practices.
· Experience with SQL, Power BI, Snowflake, Splunk, Python or comparable analytical and reporting tools.
· Experience evaluating fraud rules, thresholds, models, or decision strategies.
· Knowledge of Regulation E, prepaid account requirements, BSA/AML considerations, privacy obligations and payment-card security requirements.
· Professional certification such as Certified Fraud Examiner or another relevant fraud, risk, payments or financial-crime credentials.
You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered for this role.
