Employer Job Description
From Rockstar's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Rockstar is recruiting for a venture-backed startup building AI workers for non-production departments in American manufacturing. They're backed by a16z speedrun and angels from Brex, Xwing, and Betterment. Their mission is to revitalize the industry and rebuild America's manufacturing backbone by removing back-office bottlenecks so US manufacturers can move faster, grow, and compete globally.
About the Role
This is a true 0→1 marketing role. The person in this position will own brand and content end-to-end. They set the direction, and they do the work. They will concept, write, ship and track performance of LinkedIn posts, blog articles, website copy, launch campaigns, videos, social posts, and sales collateral that tell the company's story - and their customer's.
As the company's first dedicated marketer, they will work directly with the founders to define the voice, content franchises, and put it in front of the manufacturers the company serves.
This is a seat for a maker, not just a strategist. The person will learn the manufacturing world deeply enough to write about it credibly, move fast, and use every AI tool available to punch far above their weight.
What You'll Do
- Voice and narrative: Define and evolve the company's voice and category narrative across AI, software, and American manufacturing.
- Content creation: Concept, capture and publish exceptional content tailored to channels across: LinkedIn, X, blogs, the website, video, email, launches, and other emerging channels.
- Storytelling: Turn customer conversations, shop-floor visits, product releases, and measurable outcomes into credible stories, case studies, and campaigns.
- Editorial and distribution: Own the editorial calendar and distribution engine; repurpose strong ideas across formats and measure what earns attention and drives pipeline.
- Sales collateral: Build the collateral that helps sales win, including decks, one-pagers, customer stories, launch assets, and clear product messaging.
- Cross-functional speed: Work directly with the founders, sales, and product; use AI, design, and video tools to move from idea to polished output quickly.
- Who You Are
- Strong writer: You're a strong writer who can maintain a distinct, credible voice across formats and is allergic to AI slop.
- Fast, organized shipper: You ship high-quality content fast and independently, from idea to published and you keep it organized along the way: clear timelines, tracking, asset management and performance data anyone can pick up.
- Brand and design sense: You have a sense for brand and design, and care about how look & feel impacts customer perception.
- Full-funnel ownership: You're comfortable owning the whole funnel: content, brand, and the systems around them.
- Mission-driven: You care about the mission, and you want to see the American manufacturing base get stronger.
- In person: You're excited to work in person 5 days a week in the NYC office.
- Founder and growth mindset: You have a founder and growth mindset, and you use AI tooling obsessively to move faster and do more.
- Bonus Points
- Relevant experience: B2B or startup marketing experience.
- Audience building: You've grown a brand, audience, or newsletter from scratch.
- Design skills: Basic design chops (Figma, Canva, or similar).
- Niche audiences: Familiarity with industrial, technical, or otherwise "unsexy" audiences.
About the Company
Revitalize an industry. Rebuild America's manufacturing backbone.
America builds satellites, jet engines, semiconductors, and more with world-class precision, but the software running factory offices is decades behind. Estimators, procurement teams, and engineers still lose hours to spreadsheets, PDFs, and manual data entry.
They build AI workers for non-production departments, think inside sales, quoting, and procurement. By removing back-office bottlenecks, they help US manufacturers move faster, grow, and compete globally.
They're backed by a16z speedrun and angels from Brex, Xwing, and Betterment. Join them in rebuilding the digital foundation of American manufacturing.
The Founders
Jack Strauss, Co-Founder & CEO: Jack began his career at Acer and Northrop Grumman, then advised industrial companies at Bain. At Xwing, he helped scale the company and led GTM through its acquisition by Joby Aviation. He holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA from USC.
Alex Pareto, Co-Founder & CTO: Alex began at Meta, then founded YC-backed Demeanor which was acquired by NTWRK. He later became a founding engineer on Brex Spend Management, and ultimately the Head of Engineering for that organization. He holds a BS in Computer Science from USC.
How They Work
In person: In person every day in NYC for high-bandwidth collaboration.
User-driven: Talk to users constantly - they build with manufacturers, not for them.
Ownership: Own outcomes end-to-end and drive solutions without waiting for permission.
Their Values
We're Here to Win: We are building to help American manufacturers, our customers, our company, and our teammates win at the highest level.
There's Always a Way: We are relentlessly resourceful, take ownership of constraints, and find a path forward when others stop.
Truth Over Comfort: We choose honesty over ego, surface reality quickly, and change course when the facts demand it.
Act Now: We move fast, trust our instincts, and correct course as we go.
Step Up: We act like founders, fill gaps, fix problems, and follow through until the work is done.
The Team. The Team. The Team.: We put the team first, push and support each other, share wins, and own failures together.
