Employer Job Description
From US Frame Factory's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
About US Frame Factory
US Frame Factory designs and manufactures prefabricated cold-formed steel (CFS) framing systems—including roof/floor trusses and wall panels—for commercial and multifamily construction. Our prefab division is growing fast. We are looking for an owner who can manage projects independently from initial quote to final shop production.
What You’ll Do
- Quote & Estimate: Perform takeoffs, determine material and labor pricing, and conduct thorough scope reviews for truss and wall panel projects.
- Design & Coordinate: Guide and verify design decisions on CFS framing systems alongside our drafting team and the Engineer of Record (EOR).
- Review Documents: Analyze architectural plans and shop drawings for constructability, scope gaps, and technical errors.
- Client Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for General Contractors and clients regarding RFIs, submittals, and design changes.
- Optimize Production: Ensure clean project handoffs to the shop floor while building out standard operating procedures (SOPs) linking design to manufacturing.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 2+ years in fabrication, manufacturing, or construction (specifically in estimating, detailing, drafting, project coordination, or production planning).
- Blueprint Proficiency: Ability to dissect technical or construction drawings and translate them into accurate quantities, costs, and execution plans.
- Field/Shop IQ: Deep practical understanding of how components actually get built, assembled, and installed.
- Commercial Acumen: A rational, data-driven, and defensible approach to project pricing.
- Communication: Comfortable moving seamlessly between client/GC negotiations and technical shop-floor discussions.
- Systems Mindset: Driven to notice inefficiencies, call out when things are being done the hard way, and build better processes.
- Education & Niche Skills (Plus, Not Required)
- Industry Background: Direct experience with CFS framing, trusses, or wall panels is a massive plus (though we will train the right person).
- Education: A degree in Engineering or Construction Management is welcome, but equivalent hands-on experience is valued equally.
- Software Toolkit (Bonus)
- Framing & CAD: Experience with FrameCAD, Vertex, Keymark, Alpine, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
- Markups: Comfort using Bluebeam Revu and advanced Excel for pricing models.
- Who Thrives Here
- A self-starter who loves true ownership. We are a fast-moving, hands-on manufacturing team actively building our technical systems. You will have a direct, visible influence on how this division scales.
