Employer Job Description
From Grapevine MSP Technology Services's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Onsite Desktop Support Technician
Visalia, CA | Full-Time
Grapevine MSP is the largest managed IT services provider in California's Central Valley, with teams based in Bakersfield and Visalia. Since 2009, CEO Joe Gregory and a growing group of 60+ people have focused on one thing: helping local businesses run smoothly with technology that actually works when they need it.
We handle proactive support, cybersecurity, cloud, VoIP, and consulting for companies across the region. As Microsoft Tier 1 Partners, we keep things practical—figure out the problem, fix it cleanly, and make sure the client can get back to work.
The Role
This is hands-on, on-the-ground support. You'll spend your days at client sites around Visalia solving the issues that stop people from getting things done—laptops that won't boot, printers that won't print, accounts that won't log in, and the dozen other problems that show up on a normal day.
You'll be the person clients see when something breaks. That means communicating clearly, troubleshooting effectively, and staying calm while someone is waiting on you. It's a strong fit if you like moving around, fixing real problems, and learning how different businesses actually use technology day to day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Show up on-site and get systems working again—hardware, software, connectivity, and the random stuff that only happens at client locations
- Set up and configure new workstations, laptops, printers, and peripherals so people can actually use them
- Handle basic user account work in Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Document what you fixed and how you fixed it so the next person doesn't have to guess
- Escalate the tougher issues with enough detail that higher-tier techs can pick it up cleanly
- Follow security practices and keep client environments tidy while you're there
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- At least a year of real IT support experience (or solid formal training that prepared you to hit the ground running)
- Comfortable working in Windows environments and diagnosing everyday desktop issues
- Basic understanding of networking and Active Directory
- Able to explain technical problems to non-technical people
- Self-sufficient enough to work alone at a client location, but smart enough to call for help when you're stuck
- Bonus Points
- Previous MSP or field support experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365
- CompTIA A+ or something similar
- Why This Role
- You'll see a wide range of environments instead of the same five tickets every day. The path forward is clear—people who show up consistently and keep learning move into higher-tier work with training and development plans already in place. The team is straightforward, and reliability gets noticed.
Benefits
- Competitive pay
- 401(k) with 4% company matching
- Low-cost medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid vacation and sick time
- Performance bonuses
- Work-anniversary recognition
- Equipment and tools provided
- Covered training courses and Growth and Development Plans with industry-specific training
- Team events and social events
- If you want a role where you're actually out solving problems instead of sitting behind a desk all day, and you're ready to build real skills while working with clients across the Visalia area, let's talk.
