- Prepare, review, and approve detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of materials, cut lists, and production documentation.
- Interpret architectural plans, design specifications, client requirements, and field measurements to develop accurate engineering packages.
- Engineer custom cabinetry, closets, architectural casework, wall paneling, ceilings, countertops, and specialty woodwork.
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability, material selection, hardware compatibility, joinery methods, and installation requirements.
- Collaborate with our project managers, designers, estimators, CNC programmers, production personnel, and installation teams to ensure technical accuracy and project alignment.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, and fabrication challenges before production begins.
- Support CNC programming, nesting optimization, and manufacturing planning to improve material utilization and production efficiency.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure drawings and documentation comply with our drafting and manufacturing standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters while promoting consistent engineering practices.
- Support quality control throughout engineering, fabrication, and field installation.
- Develop practical engineering solutions for complex custom millwork applications and challenging design requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve our engineering workflows, drawing standards, production processes, and overall manufacturing performance.
- Coordinate engineering revisions and communicate technical changes to relevant project stakeholders.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork engineering, millwork drafting, or technical design.
- Extensive experience with custom cabinetry, luxury residential millwork, or high-end architectural interiors.
- Strong technical background in engineering custom casework, cabinetry, closets, wall systems, countertops, and specialty millwork.
- Advanced ability to produce detailed, production-ready shop drawings and fabrication documentation.
- Thorough understanding of CNC manufacturing, woodworking machinery, fabrication methods, and production workflows.
- Proficiency with millwork design and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or similar platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of millwork materials, hardware systems, joinery techniques, construction methods, and installation practices.
- Ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, technical specifications, and field dimensions.
- Experience working directly with manufacturing and installation teams to troubleshoot technical issues and improve constructability.
- Previous experience mentoring engineers or drafters, leading technical teams, or overseeing engineering workflows is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Benefits
- Competitive salary of $110,000–$130,000, depending on experience.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) with company matching.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- The opportunity to work on our high-end residential and custom architectural millwork projects.
- A senior-level position with the opportunity to influence our engineering standards and manufacturing processes.
- A collaborative, quality-focused work environment.
