Employer Job Description
From Greywright Inc's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Greywright is hiring a Senior Networks Engineer to lead the build-out, improvement, and operation of the networks that connect autonomous systems, and to stand up and maintain the company's development and operational networks. You will evolve how vehicles, ground stations, and operators stay connected across line-of-sight radios and multiple backhaul links, fused into one resilient network.
Our systems need continuous control over links that are often lossy, contested, or intermittent. You will make sure the network stays secure, keeps critical traffic flowing, and degrades gracefully when links drop.
Requirements
What you'll do
- Own and harden the end-to-end network architecture for Greywright's autonomous systems, from onboard vehicle networks to ground stations and the cloud.
- Design and operate line-of-sight radio networks, including mesh and point-to-multipoint links.
- Fuse multiple backhaul paths (e.g., SATCOM, LTE/5G, and other beyond-line-of-sight links) with bonding, link aggregation, and policy-based routing.
- Engineer networks for lossy, high-latency, and intermittent links so command and control stays continuous and degrades gracefully.
- Set traffic prioritization and QoS so control and safety-critical data always get through ahead of bulk data.
- Design and run secure VPN and encrypted tunnel architectures across all links.
- Own network security: segmentation, firewalls, access control, key management, and monitoring.
- Expand monitoring, telemetry, and diagnostics for link health, and lead troubleshooting in the lab and in the field.
- Test network performance under realistic and degraded conditions with the test and autonomy teams.
- Work with the autonomous systems architect and OEM partners on network interfaces and requirements.
- Stand up and maintain Greywright's development and operational networks, including office, lab, hardware-in-the-loop, and test-site connectivity.
- Implement network controls that protect ITAR/EAR-controlled and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) data, including segmentation, secure remote access, and monitoring.
What you bring
- B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of network engineering experience, including designing and operating production networks.
- Hands-on experience with line-of-sight radio networks and multi-path backhaul fusion.
- Deep knowledge of network security, including firewalls, segmentation, and secure network design.
- Expertise in VPN technologies (e.g., IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN) and encrypted tunneling.
- Proven experience optimizing lossy, high-latency, or intermittent networks for continuous control and graceful degradation.
- Strong command of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), QoS, and traffic shaping.
- Linux networking and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Experience building and running enterprise or lab networks, including switching, routing, Wi-Fi, firewalls, and secure remote access.
- Comfort supporting systems in the field and working with hardware, software, and test teams.
- Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Secret or higher security clearance; an active clearance is not required.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time when needed.
- This role requires access to ITAR/EAR-controlled data; U.S. person status is required as defined by 22 CFR 120.62.
- Nice to have
- Experience with tactical or military radios and waveforms (e.g., MANET, Silvus, Persistent Systems, Doodle Labs).
- Experience with SATCOM terminals, including LEO constellations such as Starlink or OneWeb.
- Familiarity with multipath transport protocols (e.g., MPTCP, QUIC) and SD-WAN.
- Experience operating in RF-contested or jammed environments.
- Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP Security) or experience with NSA Type 1 / CSfC encryption.
- Background with maritime or other uncrewed vehicle networks.
- Experience supporting NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC compliance.
- Familiarity with cloud networking, including government cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud).
Benefits
- Meaningful early-stage equity.
- Great health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Unlimited vacation.
