The supervisor is accountable for maintaining material traceability, preventing defective or incorrect components from entering production, and providing accurate visibility into supplier quality performance and incoming material status.
Job Duties:

Review inspection records and periodically verify inspectors’ work for accuracy and completeness.
Manage workload, staffing, cross-training, and inspection coverage to support changing production demands.
Address performance issues consistently and provide coaching when inspection quality or productivity falls below expectations.
Ensure receiving inspection reports, material certifications, inspection photographs, packing lists, and supplier documentation are complete and retrievable.
Maintain accurate records of inspection results, rejected quantities, shortages, damaged materials, and supplier corrective actions.
Ensure traceability requirements are maintained for applicable materials, components, and customer-specific items.
Maintain accurate material status within the applicable ERP, inventory, or quality management system.
Support customer audits, internal audits, supplier audits, and quality investigations by providing accurate inspection records.
Communicate incoming material issues promptly to Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality Management, and Production.
Coordinate with suppliers to clarify defects, request corrective action, and establish expectations for replacement or rework.
Monitor supplier defect trends, rejection rates, repeat issues, and inspection workload.
Work with Purchasing and Quality Management to identify suppliers requiring increased inspection or corrective action.
