Employer job description
From Silicon Ranch Corporation's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Silicon Ranch is a fully integrated provider of customized renewable energy, carbon, and battery storage solutions for a diverse set of partners across North America.
We are known for putting community partnerships first, and are the only renewable energy company in the U.S. that owns and operates all of its solar ranches and has a 100% track record for successful delivery.
We have the largest utility scale agrivoltaics portfolio in the country under Regenerative Energy®, our nationally recognized holistic approach to project design, construction, and land management. Our model incorporates regenerative ranching and other regenerative land management practices to restore livelihoods and soil health, biodiversity, and water quality.
Through our subsidiary, Clearloop, we are able to help businesses of all sizes reclaim their carbon footprint with a direct investment in building new solar projects while also helping bring renewable energy and economic development to distressed communities.
By joining Silicon Ranch, you will be joining a team of experienced and dedicated individuals who have proven time and again that it is indeed possible to not only “make solar do more”, but to make the promise of carbon-free, renewable energy that benefits people right where it comes from a tangible, measurable, and replicable reality.
Silicon Ranch is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that is reflective of the communities in which we work and serve. We are an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, and other legally protected characteristics.
Job Description
Position:
Manager, Information Technology
Location:
Nashville, TN
Overview:
The Manager, Information Technology is a hands-on role covering the applications, infrastructure, and security that Silicon Ranch runs on. The company has grown to more than 400 legal entities and over 200 operating projects, and IT has stayed deliberately small. This position adds depth and capacity the team.
The work is broad by design. A given week might include administering business applications, building an integration between two systems, resolving an escalated identity or endpoint issue, tuning a security control, automating a manual process, or running a vendor evaluation. Success in the role comes down to knowing the systems, the processes, and the people well enough to pick any of it up on short notice and keep it moving.
It calls for someone who works independently, communicates clearly with stakeholders, and uses good judgment with confidential financial and personnel information.
Main Responsibilities:
Business Partnership & Systems Support
Support the Senior Manager, Information Technology in the IT partnership with the business, translating process and stakeholder requests into system and data requirements.
Own the administration, configuration, and lifecycle of assigned business applications, including access management, upgrades, and vendor coordination.
Lead system implementations end to end, covering requirements, vendor evaluation, configuration, data migration, testing, cutover, training, and adoption.
Build and maintain integrations between business systems to remove duplicate data entry and manual handoffs.
Maintain process documentation, configuration standards, and runbooks so that operational knowledge stays in the department rather than with one person.
IT Operations & Infrastructure
Act as the escalation point for complex endpoint, identity, network, and application issues.
Administer cloud identity and endpoint management platforms, including conditional access, compliance and configuration policy, application deployment, and device lifecycle management.
Own patching, remote support tooling, hardware refresh planning, and hardware vendor relationships for the endpoint fleet.
Monitor ticket volume, service levels, and issue trends, and address root causes rather than repeating the same fix.
Provide technical continuity and decision backup for the IT function when the Senior Manager, Information Technology is unavailable.
Security, Risk & Compliance
Operate and tune enterprise security tooling across application control, endpoint detection and response, and vulnerability management, and drive remediation to closure.
Support SOC 2 and internal control requirements, including user access reviews, onboarding and offboarding controls, change management, and audit evidence, and partner with departments on IT general controls and segregation of duties.
Contribute to phishing triage, security awareness, and incident response.
Automation & Applied AI
Design and build internal automations and integrations using scripting, workflow automation platforms, and REST APIs.
Contribute to the company’s AI program by evaluating tools, building AI-assisted workflows for business teams, and tracking adoption and results, applying the company’s governance standards for data security, access control, output validation, and auditability.
Project & Vendor Management
Run IT projects end to end, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, stakeholder communication, and post-implementation review.
Evaluate tools and vendors, build total cost of ownership analysis and business cases, support negotiation and renewal decisions, and hold managed service providers to agreed scope, quality, and service levels.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required
- 7+ years of progressive information technology experience, including at least 3 years at a manager or lead level with direct ownership of enterprise systems or major projects.
- Demonstrated business acumen, with a track record of partnering across departments to understand how the work is actually done and solve process problems with technology, rather than only fulfilling requests.
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID in a production enterprise environment, plus working knowledge of Intune or a comparable mobile device management platform.
- Proven ability to carry a project from intake through adoption without day-to-day supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to present to senior audiences and explain technical detail in business terms.
- Sound judgment and discretion handling confidential financial, personnel, and executive information.
- Ability to work onsite at Silicon Ranch’s Nashville, TN headquarters five days per week, with occasional after-hours work for cutovers, maintenance windows, and incident response.
- Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- Experience supporting project-based, infrastructure, energy, construction, or other capital-intensive businesses.
- Familiarity with SOC 2, NIST CSF, or comparable control frameworks, including IT general controls and segregation of duties.
- Experience leading or supporting an enterprise system implementation.
- Experience deploying and governing AI tooling in an enterprise environment.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft MD-102, AZ-104, or SC-300; PMP; or ITIL Foundation.
- Technical Skills
- Scripting and automation proficiency in at least one of PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript, and working fluency with REST APIs.
- Experience building and supporting integrations across business systems and SaaS applications.
- Familiarity with endpoint security tooling across application control, endpoint detection and response, and vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with enterprise AI assistants and workflow automation platforms.
- Our interview process: A typical interview process at Silicon Ranch might include the below stages. Please note that we may make changes to these steps as needed, and details will be provided to you early on in the process.
- Introductory Interview with our recruiter
- Hiring Manager Interview to dive into technical skills and behavioral questions
- Panel Interview to assess cross-functional skills and dive deeper into technical skills
- Executive Interview to answer high-level questions about SRC and the team
