Senior Acoustic Engineer , Fauna

We are seeking a Senior Acoustic Engineer to lead the design, integration, and validation of acoustic and audio subsystems for robots. You will own the full acoustic architecture from early-stage prototyping through production spanning microphone arrays, speaker systems, noise management, and electromechanical acoustic interaction. This role requires deep expertise in electroacoustic transducer design, acoustic measurement, and hands-on hardware development in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Key job responsibilities

Architect and own the acoustic subsystem design for robotic platforms, including microphone arrays, speaker modules, and noise isolation strategies for mechanically dynamic environments

Serve as the subject-matter expert on acoustics and audio signal processing, providing technical guidance across hardware, embedded software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams

Research, specify, and characterize electroacoustic components (microphones, speakers, receivers) for integration into robotic form factors with unique mechanical and thermal constraints

Develop and validate acoustic measurement methodologies, test fixtures, and quality assurance processes for low-volume and prototype production

Design and execute acoustic simulations (e.g., COMSOL Multiphysics) to guide enclosure design, transducer placement, and noise mitigation strategies

Drive acoustic performance from concept through prototype builds and production ramp, including root cause analysis and troubleshooting of acoustic anomalies in electromechanical systems

• Collaborate cross-functionally with robotics engineers, mechanical designers, embedded software teams, and external research partners
• Manage relationships with acoustic component vendors and external consultants, defining specifications and integrating third-party inputs into programs
• Author technical documentation, SOPs, and test specifications for acoustic validation and production test

About the team

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. Our goal is simple: make robots people actually want to live and interact with in everyday human spaces.

We believe that future won’t arrive until building for robotics becomes far more accessible. Today, too much effort is spent reinventing the fundamentals. We’re changing that by developing tightly integrated hardware and software systems that make it faster, safer, and more intuitive to create real-world robotic products.

Our work spans the full stack: mechanical design, control systems, dynamic modeling, and intelligent software. The focus is not just functionality, but experience. We’re building robots that feel responsive, expressive, and genuinely useful.

At Fauna, you’ll work at the frontier of this space, helping define how robots move, manipulate, and interact with people in natural environments. It’s an opportunity to solve hard problems across hardware and software with a team focused on making robotics accessible and joyful to build.

If you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we’re interested in hearing from you.
