Full time

Position Salary Range: $48,600 - $54,000 per year; DOE
Research Technology Support (RTS) is looking for a Systems Support Specialist to join our hands-on deskside IT team. In this role, you will be the go-to technical resource for ASU employees, researchers, and public visitors. If you have a solid foundation in Windows and macOS, a knack for troubleshooting audio/visual (A/V) equipment, and genuinely love helping people solve problems, you’ll fit right in.
Our team manages incoming requests via a ticketing system (Service Now), phone calls, and walk-ins. You will have the autonomy to self-manage your workload while collaborating closely with team members and student technicians.
Provide Front-Line Support: Respond to help desk requests and resolve hardware, software, and media equipment issues remotely, over the phone, or in person.
Hardware & Software Deployment: Configure, image, install, and upgrade desktop computers, laptops, tablets (iPad/Android), and software packages.
A/V & Conference Support : Help setup, test, and troubleshoot multimedia presentation technology in conference rooms and hybrid meeting spaces.
Campus Mobility: Drive ASU golf carts across campus to deliver, install, or service IT equipment.
Documentation: Consult our team knowledge base to solve issues and contribute new documentation as solutions are found.
We don't expect you to have all of these, but tell us if you have experience with:
Supporting both Mac and Windows environments (hardware, OS, and standard apps).
Active Directory and remote workstation support tools.
Workstation imaging and mass software deployment tools.
Troubleshooting mobile devices (iOS/Android).
IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Google IT Support, etc.).
A demonstrated proficiency in the core technical skills required for this role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a diverse audience.
Capability to drive a campus golf cart (valid US Driver’s License required).
This is a 100% in-person role on the ASU campus, with most of the time spent in standard climate-controlled office spaces.
Additional time is spent in university research laboratory environments.
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting, with extended periods in a stationary position; frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
The Research Technology Support (RTS) team is a dedicated technical support group within ASU’s Knowledge Enterprise. As a service-first team, we go beyond simple "break/fix" support. We focus on building genuine, rewarding relationships through active listening, thorough troubleshooting, and consistent follow-up. Our goal is to ensure that every faculty member, staff member, researcher, and visitor we assist walks away with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in their daily work.
This position may require driving. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
