From Indian Creek School's posting. “We” and “our” refer to the employer.
Indian Creek School, located in Crownsville, Maryland, is introducing Ice Hockey as its next varsity sport program. The School is seeking an experienced, energetic, and visionary Ice Hockey Program Director to guide the program from its inception during the 2027-2028 school year through full participation in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
This is a unique opportunity to build a hockey program from the ground up. The Program Director will be responsible for establishing the culture, identity, competitive standards, and long-term sustainability of Indian Creek Ice Hockey while recruiting, retaining, and developing high school student-athletes who will form the foundation of the program.
During the first one to two years, Indian Creek anticipates that the team may compete primarily within a club or developmental league structure while building a roster capable of sustaining high-level interscholastic competition. If a viable number of competitive players are available during the inaugural season, the School is prepared to support league participation in year one.
A central focus of the position will be creating and executing a multi-year recruitment and player-development strategy so that a sustainable and competitive program is firmly established by the opening of Indian Creek's new on-campus ice rink.
The Program Director will work closely with the Athletic Department, Admissions Office, School leadership, and the regional hockey community to attract mission-appropriate student-athletes, develop current players, build program visibility, and create a clear pathway from a fledgling program to successful MIAA competition.
The successful candidate will understand that launching Indian Creek Ice Hockey requires more than coaching a team. The Program Director will serve as an architect and public face of the program, building relationships with youth and club hockey organizations, establishing program traditions and standards, and helping create a premier high school hockey experience that supports both athletic development and the mission and values of Indian Creek School.
