Develop and/or participate in the development and execution of a unit's or program's communications strategy and deliverables in accordance with University Communications guidelines in one or more of the following areas: strategic communications, employee/internal communications, digital media, media relations, content strategy, marketing, identity, audience segmentation, measurement, and crisis communications.
The Senior Manager, Digital Media leads the production of video, audio, and photo content for the Stanford Department of Medicine.
The role is the department's lead for digital media and its technical expert in the field, reporting to the department Events Manager and partnering via dotted-line supervision with the Director of Communications on communications plans that support the department's missions in education, research, and patient care.
The Senior Manager oversees a multi-channel digital media portfolio that includes video for the Department of Medicine Annual Report, storytelling series such as MedStory, and content for social media, email, websites, and web publications. The role contributes, via dotted-line, to the supervision of a part-time contingent Video Manager, runs the team's photography services and central library of illustrations, photos, and graphics, and sets up regular performance reporting so data guides future content.
The Senior Manager also makes sure all digital content meets University and School of Medicine brand, identity, and accessibility standards, brings in third-party vendors carefully when needed, and works with Stanford Medicine and University Communications to extend its reach.
About 40% of the position is dedicated to hands-on production of original digital media, from pitching ideas through production, delivery, and performance analysis. The Senior Manager is also expected to keep up with digital media tools and trends through training and professional development, and to look at how artificial intelligence can streamline production and improve team workflows.
This is a hybrid opportunity.
