Scientist 3 – Translational Medicine, Oncology
We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love.
The Translational Medicine organization at Genentech has a vision to transform patient care through borderless, innovative, and rigorous translational science that will catalyze the development of new medicines, accelerate drug development timelines, and discover new therapeutic strategies.
To fulfill our vision, we recruit talented and highly motivated scientists to develop and execute innovative biomarker and diagnostic strategies to drive clinical development through all phases of the portfolio, and conduct foundational disease-oriented translational research to maximize our scientific and clinical impact.
We are seeking a dedicated and independent Scientist 3 to lead lab-based translational research and discovery efforts in lung and gastrointestinal (GI) cancers.
This is a hands-on, laboratory-based position that offers the chance to collaborate closely with teams across Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) - including Research Oncology, Computational Sciences, and Translational Genomics and Proteomics. As an integral member of this cross-functional team, you will:
Design and execute experiments to validate biological and therapeutic hypotheses derived from non-clinical, clinical, and real-world data
Synthesize, analyze, and interpret experimental and computational data in collaboration with experts from other functions
Elucidate mechanisms of action and therapeutic resistance to tumor microenvironment and tumor targeted therapies (eg next-generation checkpoint inhibitors and antibody drug conjugates) to guide patient selection, pharmacodynamic biomarker assessment, combination treatment strategies, and next-generation target identification
Identify, evaluate, and validate innovative cell-based, biochemical, and multi-omic assays-including single-cell and functional genomics technologies- to enable scalable hypothesis testing
Proactively establish new internal and external collaborations to access emerging technologies, datasets, and analytical methods that fuel translational innovation
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $120,700-$224,100 . Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
