The city is seeking a Community Coordinator who will be responsible for working closely with immigrant and refugee organizations and will conduct outreach in the community with Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) and faith-based organizations. The Community Coordinator will serve as liaison to the Fresno community on local immigrant issues; and support the recommendation, development and adoption of equitable policies and practices that enrich Fresno through an integrated, engaged and healthy immigrant community.

For this assignment, fluency in modern standard Arabic with the ability to identify other regional languages is required.
Community Coordinators will work closely with their respective assigned community to bridge the gap between community members and the City of Fresno by attending regular meetings and events hosted by community members and CBOs; facilitate presentations and discussions with City departments and officials; meet with persons and groups in the community to seek solutions to problems; serve as primary contact for residents with complaints, inquiries, and requests for services; track and respond to citizen complaints, inquires, and requests
for services; and share information about public safety and city opportunities. The Community Coordinators will collect and analyze data, identify opportunities, and make recommendations.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with broad experience in connecting community leaders and who possess effective communication, collaboration and coordination skills among people and organizations with differing points of view to strengthen community trust and improve the development and application of City policies and procedures.
The ideal candidates must possess excellent oral, written and computer skills, and strong project and time management skills, including the ability to effectively organize and convene meetings and maintain networks of community contacts and resources.
In addition, it is expected that the Community Coordinator's will be able to effectively work with diverse groups of people, have a record of demonstrating fairness, honesty, transparency, collaboration, initiative and follow through in the context of difficult or sensitive community settings.

This is an unclassified position in which the incumbent serves at the will of the director.
Fresno and Central Valley natives and members of the Middle Eastern and/or North African community are strongly encouraged to apply.
