Job Summary

Performs semi-skilled inspection work utilizing a thorough understanding and the ability to perform all phases of the nondestructive examination process.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

• 1.) Assist in the conducting of inspections using any one or more of the below listed accepted tests: (a) Liquid Penetrant Test; (b) Magnetic Particle Test; (c) Ultrasonic Test; (d) Visual Test; (e) Video Equipment; (f) Alloy Analyzer; and (g) Hardness Tester.
• 2.) Perform general parts cleaning and painting.
• 3.) Perform maintenance work on the Central Machine Shop building and equipment.
• 4.) Assist, as directed, employees of equal or higher classification in carrying through work assignments.
• 5.) Report irregularities or abnormal conditions. Take notes and keep records as required.
• 6.) Perform all work in accordance with safety regulations and acceptable shop practices.
• 7.) Support AEP's cultural goals and expectations.
• 8.) Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.

What You'll Need:

Education requirements are listed below: 2 year technical degree or certificate or 2 years experience with a qualified contractor or service provider.

Work Experience requirement listed below: Third class Nde-Inspector must demonstrate the skills and abilities contained within the job description or satisfactory progression toward these skills and abilities prior to the end of the probationary period; and also demonstrate the skills and ability required for promotion to second class within one year from the initial hiring date.

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: 2 year technical degree or certificate or 2 years experience with a qualified contractor or service provider.
